Crossed Lines with Rider. NerviiCrossed Lines with Rider. Nervii

Crossed Lines with Rider. Sills class 1b, workshop 1.Nervii? c.115-100 BC. Gold quarter stater. 12-14mm. 1.78g. Crossed lines forming A-shaped motif./ Horse and rider left, lyre below. ABC 37, LT 8697, DT 94-97, VA 37, Sills 348, S 9. Good VF, pale gold, sharp lines, full bodied horse with lyre visible. Found Great Missenden, Bucks.SCARCE type, EXTREMELY RARE obverse die, first we’ve had.

Unlike other dies, the A-form motif looks decidedly deliberate. We wonder what the die cutter had in mind
